What can objects and photographs reveal of the history of motherhood? Historian Carla Pascoe Leahy’s research looks into Australian motherhood from the mid-twentieth century to the present day. Her interviewees have shared objects and photographs they had kept to remember becoming a mother. The results are heart-warming, intriguing and sometimes surprising.

Carla Pascoe Leahy is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Lecturer in Family History at the University of Tasmania, Joint Editor of Studies in Oral History journal, an Associate of the Contemporary Histories Research Group and an Honorary Associate at Museums Victoria.
