Event Description

Nature Book Week is a time for readers of all ages to celebrate nature writing in its many forms from science writing to poetry, fiction and non-fiction.

Some of our regular storytimes will take place in parks around Moonee Valley so we can enjoy nature and celebrate books shortlisted for the Karajia Award for Children’s Literature by First Nations authors and/or illustrators.

NOTE: These sessions will be held in the place of Preschool Storytimes at Sam Merrifield, Avondale Heights and Ascot Vale between September 4 and 7.
Storytimes at Niddrie and Crown Street Stables will continue as usual.

Monday's session at Woodlands Park will feature First Nations storytellers Mandy Nicholson and Teena Moffat reading to the children, Djirri Djirri dance performances, and nature craft with Yarn Strong Sista using leaves and bark sourced from Country.
